Best Wines Under $20

PRODUCT: PROSECCO DOC BRUT

The Review:
In “20 Wines Under $17 for 2017,” writer Clive Pursehouse selects the following wines to kick off the new year: ZARDETTO Prosecco Brut Treviso NV “A blend from vineyards within the broader Prosecco DOC indicated by the di Treviso. Classic Prosecco aromas of white flowers, chamomile and apple skin. The palate is lean, angular and loaded with citrus zest, underlined with notes of kitchen herbs and hints of apricot."

PRODUCT: PROSECCO DOC BRUT

The Review:
Included in “Holiday Wines – Tip 4: Pick Affordable Sparkling Wines,” Ray Isle assembles a list of “celebratory alternatives to pricey Champagne,” including: ZARDETTO Prosecco Brut Treviso NV “Italy’s Zardetto, whose vineyards are located in the Conegliano hills outside Venice, is one of the best-known names in Prosecco. Its basic brut bottling has ripe grapey aromas and rich fruity flavors with a touch of baked bread on the finish."

Improper Bostonian

PRODUCT: PROSECCO DOC BRUT

The Review:
In “The Pros of Prosecco,” Sandy Block, MW and Vice President of Beverage Operations at Legal Sea Food, gives an overview of the current Prosecco market, which is filled with many bland-tasting options. Block writes, “however, when prosecco tastes balanced, and there’s even a hint of minerality or citrus, this wine can be a delightfully refreshing bubbly.” Offered as a top-recommended Prosecco is the following: ZARDETTO Prosecco Brut Treviso NV “This medium-textured prosecco is a longtime favorite, luminescent in the glass, with juicy green apple, pear and melon aromas. Clean, dry and very finely balanced with bright acids and hints of minerality, this sparkling is an excellent easy-drinking choice for fish, salads or a plate of fruit and cheese."

Grape Collective

PRODUCT: SPARKLING ROSÈ EXTRA DRY

The Review:
Still in that sweet-value spot is the non-vintage Zardetto Vino Spumante Rosé Extra Dry from Veneto. Fun bubbles and strawberries. We would have guessed that this barely had alcohol in it—5%, if that were legal—but it had 12! It was that wonderfully balanced. You probably think Prosecco when you see the name Zardetto, and for good reason: This family makes good ones. This spumante is made entirely of Raboso Veronese grapes vineyards planted in 2000, with its first release in 2008.

NightClub & Bar

PRODUCT: SPARKLING ROSÈ EXTRA DRY

The Review:
Everyone seems to love Prosecco; it’s soft, fruity and so easy to sip. When a red grape is used for the Italian crowd-pleasing sparkler (here, it’s local varietal Raboso Veronese), the result is a wine with a confected berry character that’s better than any box of candies. The grapes are harvested from the town of Conegliano in Italy’s Veneto region, and the wine touts a balancing act of approachable drinkability, elegance and a line of acidity to keep your mouth wanting more."

‘Ziss’ wine has good structure with pastel aromas and flavors and candied pears in the aftertaste — fruity but firm.

Aromas of candied pear and citrus follow through to a medium body, marzipan and a fruity finish. A little simple but delicious."

PRODUCT: PROSECCO DOC BRUT

The Review:
"This wine’s crisp apple and lemon fruit has prosecco’s clean neutrality, which gives it the feel of drinking fresh air. It’s a clean, juicy sparkler for aperitifs." (Best Buy)
